Meet Lucy and Dylan – a fun, young couple from San Francisco who adores traveling, exploring new places, eating delicious food, and dancing to everything from disco to Bossanova.
When they reached out to us, they knew they wanted an entire wedding weekend on the beach. A vacation experience for themselves and their family and friends. And we were more than happy to help them make this dream come true.
We started planning in early 2020, as Lucy and Dylan wanted to tie the knot in March 2021. They chose Montage in Los Cabos as their venue because of its gorgeous private beach and the fact that it’s home to some fantastic restaurants.
But as with many weddings planned during the pandemic, Lucy and Dylan’s was postponed and moved to July, just to be safe. There were a few other obstacles too, but none of them kept us from pulling off this beautiful destination wedding in Cabo. All of which photographer Tim Willoughby captured in classic, clean detail.
You can plan a flawless event, right down to the smallest details, and still have a few hiccups. But as experienced Cabo wedding planners, we go above and beyond to make sure everything gets back on track. And no matter how stressful something gets, we never put that on the client. Whatever problem arises is ours to overcome while still making sure you and your guests have an incredible time.
In Lucy and Dylan’s case, there were a few venue snafus. First, because of cautious health practices surrounding COVID in Los Cabos, we had to move the reception to the ceremony space. This meant transforming the ceremony area into the reception in under an hour, which we did with help from hotel staff, the rental companies, and Pina, the florist. As you can see from the photos, it turned out beautifully!
And second, the venue across from Montage started construction days before Lucy and Dylan’s wedding, which meant machinery was visible. We handled this by renting walls of greenery to cover the construction site view and had a conversation with the builders about removing everything on Saturday morning. Success!
Lucy and Dylan’s wedding weekend was a joy to plan and even more fun to experience.
It started with a sunset sail and gourmet dinner on a Cabo Wave boat.
The following day, the couple hosted their rehearsal dinner at the Acre Baja mango grove, which included three hours of DJ music, drinks, and a delicious family-style dinner. We kept the decor simple but hung some shimmering disco balls from the trees, which the couple loved. And Lucy’s dress – heart eyes! It was an Otomi design and a beautiful expression of Mexico.
The peak of the weekend was the wedding day, of course!
We went for a traditional coastal look because Dylan is from the northeast, and the two spend a great deal of time off the coast of Boston. They also lived in Charleston together, which adds to the beach vibe.
We were also inspired by Lucy’s love of mixing old and new pieces, so we picked table decor that reflected that and added pops of fun flair. Like the traditional glass hearts, Lucy loves. We wrote the guests’ names on each one, hung them from greenery, and used them as escort cards.
Lighting was also important. They wanted a soft, glowing, sparkling ambiance, which we created through clusters of candles and hanging lights.
And because Lucy and Dylan love a good party, we included unlimited drinks and fabulous music by Kimbara, an acoustic trio specializing in Latin and Spanish rhythms.
At the end of the day, the wedding weekend was a fun and festive vacation experience for the couple and their nearest and dearest.
